Corporate tax registration in Dubai: the eight documents that hold most applications up
Trade licence mismatches and missing shareholder details cause more delays than the form itself. Here is the pack to assemble before you start.
Straight answers on registration, deadlines, scope and cost.
When does my company need to register for UAE corporate tax?
Registration is required based on your entity type and first tax period, not on whether you expect to owe tax. Loss-making and small businesses still register. Send us your trade licence and financial year end and we will confirm your registration window and prepare the application.
My books are two years behind. Is that a problem?
It is common and it is fixable. We start with an agreement of opening balances, then rebuild forward: bank, VAT control, payroll and related-party accounts first, followed by revenue and cut-off testing. Most SME clean-ups reach filing-ready in about three weeks.
Can you both prepare my accounts and audit them?
No — and you should be wary of any firm that offers to. Where we prepare financial statements, an independent auditor signs them. Where we audit, we do not prepare. We will happily work alongside your existing auditor.
What exactly is ICOFR support, and does my business need it?
Internal controls over financial reporting is the documented set of controls that make your numbers reliable. Groups, listed subsidiaries and regulated entities usually need a formal framework; a 20-person trading company usually does not. We will tell you honestly which side of that line you sit on.
How is your fee calculated?
Fixed fee against a written scope, based on transaction volume, number of entities and the state of your current records. You see the number before any work begins, and additional scope is always quoted separately in advance.
Do you work with our existing accounting software?
Yes. We work in the system you already own rather than migrating you onto ours, and we leave your file complete and exportable if you ever change advisors.
